Banyan is a family directory and invitation-planning service operated by Cybersync Consulting Inc. Contact support@onbanyan.com with questions or requests about your information.

Information we handle

Family organizers and people using Banyan provide names, family relationships, mailing addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, invitation details, and corrections. We also handle account information, support messages, SMS replies, delivery records, and records of consent or withdrawal of consent. Technical logs help us operate and secure the service.

How we use information

We use this information to maintain the directory, prepare family invitations, confirm addresses, manage access, answer support requests, and keep the service reliable. SMS consent records are used to determine whether a number may receive the address-check texts described when consent was obtained.

The directory is shared within the community

Banyan is a shared directory for participating families. Directory information, including names, relationships and contact details, is available to authorized people in those families. It is not a public directory. A family's invitation lists and other private planning records are restricted to people with access to that family's planning. Contact support about correcting information or restricting access to your address and phone details.

SMS information and consent

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own purposes. We may provide the information necessary to service providers that deliver and operate our text messaging program, such as Twilio. Consent records are kept separately from the shared family directory and are not shared with other families for their own messaging.

Providing a phone number for the directory does not give permission to send automated texts. We obtain separate consent for the SMS program. You can withdraw it by replying STOP, contacting support, or telling the organizer.

Service providers and other disclosures

We use providers for hosting, data storage, authentication, email, and text messaging. They receive information needed to perform those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect the service and the people using it. These purposes do not permit sharing SMS consent for marketing.

Retention and your requests

We retain information as needed to operate Banyan, maintain the history of directory changes, resolve requests, and meet applicable obligations. We retain consent and opt-out records as needed to honor messaging preferences and demonstrate permission. Removing a number from an active list does not necessarily remove the suppression record that prevents future messages.

Email support to request access, a correction, or deletion. We may need to verify your request. Because the directory contains relationships and records shared by several families, we will explain what can be changed or removed and any information that must be retained.

Browser storage and security

Banyan and its authentication provider use browser storage and technical information for sign-in, security, and preferences such as the light or dark theme. We use access controls and other safeguards to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security.

Updates

We will publish changes on this page with an updated effective date. A change to this policy does not expand the scope of an existing SMS consent.
